I was watching Barefoot Contessa a few years ago and she was showing how to make some breakfast food as they do in Paris. I adopted her idea and tried to do something vegetarian and the end result was something delicious. I happened to try something of this kind when we visited Paris. The bread was amazing in Paris but any bread from the store is just as good. I liked the creative nature of this recipe. I can bet that your kids would love it and the next time they demand pizza you can make one in a jiffy.
Gadgets:
Toaster Oven
Baking tray
Knife
Cutting board
Ingredients:
Bread- any kind that you enjoy 2 slices
Cheese ( 5 blend cheese from Costco or Mozzarella) - as much as you like grated.
Tomatoes - 2
Avocado - 1 sliced
Onion (red)-a few slices (thinly sliced)
Pesto/ Marinara sauce- 2 tbsp
Basil for garnish
Salt
Pepper
Preparation:
1. Turn on the toaster oven to 350 degree F.
2. Place the bread on the baking tray with the 2 straight lines of the bread facing each other so that they form an oval shape and arrange the veggies with a spread of pesto then layer avocado, tomatoes, onions and then add the marinara sauce, basil and the cheese on the top on the bread.
3. Place the tray in the oven and toast them until the cheese starts to melt and the bread is toasted in the process.
4. Pizza ready.
5. Cut it into strips or triangles and serve.
